Default Water on top shelf of refrigerator
Brand: Sears
Model Number: 106.73192300
Age: 5 - 10 years

We have been getting water flowing onto the top shelf of our 5 year old Sears Kenmore refrigerator. I think it is coming from the air tower or air diffuser but can't be sure. We have a ice maker but the water does not appear to be coming from it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

There is a good chance your drain line is clogged up

Could not find an actual parts breakdown for this unit
It will either drain directly out the back of the freezer section
OR
It will drain into a funnel like part at the back top of the fridge section and then out the back and down

denman,

thanks for the info, I will check for the drain tube. My parts list shows a discharge tube listed. Do you think compressed air will be the way to go if it is clogged ??

Thanks again

Should work as long as the pressure is not too high

Check under the fridge at the tray could be dust etc. is blocking it there.

Also a water/ 10% bleach mixture put through it will help kill mold etc. which may be causing the plug. In many cases a turkey baster works well.

denman,

It took a while but, your info was right on the mark. I had to remove the ice maker, interior freezer back panel and the freezer floor to find the drain. (Drain pipe ws hidden inside the fridge cabinet) Ton of ice build up and after removing the ice, a mix of bleach, warm water and compressed air did the trick. Any ideas on how to prevent this in the future ?

Once again, THANKS !

It slowly stops up from the bottom with all the dust and moisture it's exposed to over the months and years.
