If it's a freezer on top unit it can be that the drain tube in freezer is stopped up and overflows the pan instead of draining to the pan underneath. This is the defrost water. Give your model number for more help.

The drain trough is just below the evaporator coil behind the back panel in the freezer. There will be a hole in the trough that drains the water to a pan under the fridge. Clear the ice to find the hole and warm water and air pressure should clear the drain tube.
