Water Tastes & Smells Bad Brand: Maytag Model Number: MZD2666KES Age: Less than 1 year -Purchased 6/4/2007
-Water tasted excellent for a couple of weeks (3).
-After three (3) weeks we started experiencing bad odor and moldy\mildewy taste in the water.
-Drained the gallons of water numerous times and it would taste some what decent but not the same quality as what we used to get initially and would revert back to tasting bad after couple of hours.
-Purchased a set of three new filters from Amazon, which did not resolve the issue
-Placed a call to Maytag they said that it was probably the water in the house which could be causing it to taste bad, or the copper tubing and asked me to replace it with pvc/plastic tubing.
-Replaced the copper tubing with PVC tubing but the water still had a bad odor and taste.
-Purchased another set of three filters, this time directly from Whirlpool but it did not resolve the odor and taste.
-Installed a premium GE water filtration system between the main water supply and the refrigerator.
-The water from the GE filtration tastes excellent.
-Had a tech come in and take a look at it on 08/04/2007. The tech was incompetent and did not even tasted the water till the service desk asked him to do so, and left without resolving the issue.
-Placed another call to Maytag and arranged for another tech come on Wednesday 08/11/2007, this time again from A&E Service. The tech came and tasted and smelled the water, experienced bad odor and taste. Took him in the basement un-hooked the GE filter connected between the refrigerator and the water supply and had him taste the water from it and confirmed that the water was far better in taste and odor. The tech placed an order to have the water reservoir replaced, stating that the water may be getting contaminated while being stagnant in the reservoir.
-Received the reservoir by mail, placed a call to A&E to have a tech replace the water reservoir in the refrigerator on 08/15/2007.
-Tech arrived on 08/15/2007 and replaced the reservoir. The water tasted fine after numerous draining numerous gallons of water. I was also advised to call Maytag and talk to a Resolution Manager if the issues does not gets resolved after the replacement of the reservoir.
-The water had the same bad odor and taste the following day on 8/16/2007.
-Placed a call to Maytag and specifically advised customer service to speak with a Resolution Manager, upon hesitation, the call was put through to a Mr. Dwayne, but still no resolution.
- Any ideas what might be going wrong with the refrigerator. Any assistance and guidance to point me in the right direction will be appreciated
- Maytag Service sucks big time!! no wonder the TV ad shows the tech is sitting there twiddling his thumb instead of going and fixing stuff....;-)
