Default Water slow; ice maker fine
Brand: Amana
Model Number: AFD2535DEW
Age: 1 - 4 years

The water dispenser and ice maker were both working fine...then one day the water dispenser would only slowly drip....drip....drip. The ice maker seems to work fine. I took out the filter, put a glass underneath where the filter was, and tried again. Again, only a slow drip.

The ice maker is working fine. What is the issue?

Thanks.

Check water inlet valve
Refrigerator Repair Guide: How to Check the Water Inlet Valve - ACME HOW TO.com

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

You can also try swapping the wires which plug into the solenoid at the inlet valve.

This way the water dispenser should send water to the ice maker. If it does it means that the dispenser lever switch is working. you already know the valve and line are o.k. because your ice maker is working.

When your ice maker dumps and refills with water it will come out the water dispenser with the wires swapped. If it doesn't then I would have to blame it on the solenoid.

If the lines are the same size you can also swap them around to do this check.

Oops. I spoke too soon. I thought the ice maker was working...turns out it was only the water still left in the line that made a few cubes....so i'm not getting water or ice. The dispensers seem to work (the water one makes its normal noise at least).

Thanks.
