Default Water not Draining during Defrost Cycle
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: jcd289ges
Age: 5 - 10 years

Every 2 to 3 days my refriferator defrosts (usually at night) and I wake up to water on the floor. It appears to be running down the side of the freezer and out the front. Their is NO water in the evaporator tray under the fresh side.

Any tricks on checking the drainage for the defroster?

Could not find any info on your fridge. Are you sure this is the correct Model Number but I did find info on a jcd2289 see below link

Do not know of any tricks. Just remove the cover to get at your coils and find the obstruction. You may be able to blow through a straw or tubing to clear it. Pour some water down it to check that it is running freely into the evap tray. If it looks like mold and crud is growing in the drain pour a 20% bleach solution down.
