Water leaks out of the freezer section when fridge goes through the defrost cycle. I turned the water off to the ice maker and it still leaks.
Please advise me on how to fix this.

The drain for the defrost water is plugged.

Take the back panel out of the inside of the freezer and clean the drain trough.

Then take a stiff but flexible piece of wire and run it down through the drain in to the pan that is under the fridge.
