Default Water Flow for Ice & Cold Water
Brand: Amana
Model Number: SXD26VW
Age: 5 - 10 years

About six years ago my Amana SXD26VW slowed down to a trickle ao tne water dispenser and the Ice Maker only fills two full ice cubes and the rest freeze as shells of cubes hollow on the inside or partical cubes.

We had an independent service contract to cover all of our appliances until after four attempts to repair the problem they said we needed a new Ice Maker which was not covered under the contract.

They clamed to hace replaced the water valve on all four attempts to repair it. No Change.

Pryor to my problem our water regular valve for the house went out and we had high weter pressure. Regular was replaced.

Any repair suggestion on hoe to remity the water flow problem?

To check the water pressure at the fridge locate the shut off valve for the fridge water line.

Shut the water supply off.

Disconnect the water line.

Hold the line in a bucket and have someone turn the water on so you can watch the flow.

If you have low flow you likely have a faulty shut off valve.

If it is the type of valve that punctures the line it should be replaced with an in line shut off valve.

Here is a link to your fridge model SXD26VW.

If you have good flow take the valves off the fridge and clean.

If they are the molded type you will have to replace them if you can not clean them to get a good flow.
