Default Water on floor when ice maker is off
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFX25NRDA
Age: 5 - 10 years

I turned off the ice maker because the bin was full. Not long after water started leaking from under the refridgerator on the floor. I turned off the water supply and it still was leaking. I checked the water supply lines in the back of the fridge and did not find any leaks. As soon as I turned the ice maker back on the leaking stopped.

I don't know how those two things could be related. I would try and repeat the procedure to see if it happens again. Under the fridge is the drain pan which holds the water from the defrost cycle. If it gets full from a large amount of defrost water it will overflow. It's supposed to be evaporated by the condenser fan. Or the drain tube could be missing the pan. Pull the fridge out from the wall and look under trying to see where it comes from.

you mention that you turn off the water supply and still it is leaking.. and when you run the ice maker leak gone. probably the trouble is on ice maker water valve. it is one of the parts that regulating the flow of water. it will on- off in sequence. you turn off the water supply still leaking, check your close valve, maybe water still pass thru, same with the water valve even ice maker off, water still pass thru even it must be close if ice maker unit is off. and leak gone if ice maker is on.. the ice maker is doing its job, making ice, excess water goes to drain basin and it will just evaporate. if ice maker is off, the water will just keep flowing till drain basin is full and evaporation can not coup with it. so it will over flow.
