Hi Folks,
I just found this forum... hoping for some insight. I'm dissappointed to say I have a kenmore side by side fridge with water dispenser just over a year old. The water dispensing stopped working suddenly.

I followed the book instructions - i.e. replace the water filter cause it might be clogged. So now I'm out 50$ for that cause it doesn't fix it, and I can't really store a filter full of water. So...

I've read a bit online of what to look for, cause I don't have the service manual. I've found the following:
- pipe in fridge might be frozen cause too much ice
- solenoid might be gone
- control board might need to be replaced

I'm leaning toward one of the latter two, but I'm open to any advice.

I'm quite comfortable with electrical. Are there any points on the back of the fridge behind the cover at the bottom that I can probe to diagnose concretely before buying parts?

I took the back off and you can barely get anything in there to see let alone work - very little space.

I'd like to avoid calling the service guy - 4 visits and 250$ last time for my stove, and it was one little simple (albeit 100$) part I could have done myself.

You can check the fill valve solenoid for continuity.

You can disconnect the water line at the bottom of the door and see it the line in the door is frozen.

To check the control board you will need the wiring diagram.

It could be in the kick plate or stuck to the bottom of the fridge in an envelope.

If you need the water valve the part number is PS735548.

The part number for the board is PS1526494.

If you find that the water line in the door is frozen the door will likely have to be replaced.

You may want to contact Sears if this is the case.

Some of the freezer doors in the Kenmore and Frigidaire side by side fridges had a problem with the routing of the water line that cause the line to freeze.
