The water dispenser on my Amana has developed a 'delay' when pressing the lever. The water eventually will come out if held long enough, or pressed in and out several times. The pressure of the water seems fine. The ice making is working fine.

I've found on parts lists that there is a switch in the dispenser unit, and also some sort of solenoid where the water source comes in. I suspect one of these is the problem, but I'm not sure but that is why I'm asking!

Any suggestions?

Remove back panel and pull out water solenoid. Remove the larger plastic output hose and get someone to press the fountain water switch. If the water out is weak or intermittant, replace valve.

That water coming out of that valve, take off the output side tubing and let it dispense straight into a bucket, when someone presses the lever out fron should be a strong high pressure stream. If it isnt that valve is weak and needs to be replaced.

The output is strong, it is just that there is a delay from when the lever is pressed until the water comes out of the value.

So should I replace the valve, or is there a switch somewhere else that could be bad?

If you have a filter, change it, it might be partially clogged.

water wont dispense in door. I have replaced the valve and can get water clear to the connection at base of door but water wont come out the dispenser.
