Default Water dispenser leak
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FRS24WSCB2
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Frigidaire side by side fridge with water and ice on the door. Ice works fine, but the last few days, water has been dripping slowly from the water dispenser tube. Any ideas of where I should start looking for the problem? (I can't find any info for this model on Frigidaire's website)
Thanks!

EDIT...actually, I just noticed that the flap on the ice dispenser doesn't close correctly either. I have to manulally push down on the white "plunger" that connects to the flap with a bar to close it. Clould THAT have anything to do with the water leak prblem?

You may have a problem with the electronic board in the dispenser causing both problems.

You may have a sticking water fill valve or a piece of dirt letting water by.

You could also have a water pressure problem to the fridge.

The water valve is closed by pressure.

If the water line going to the fridge was hooked into the water line with what is known as a saddle valve is could be blocked and causing the low pressure.

If this is the case then it should be replace with a proper shut off valve.

To check the water flow turn off the water to the fridge and remove the line going to the valve at the fridge.

Hold the line in a bucket and have someone turn the water on.

Here is a link to your fridge model FRS24WSCB2.

Sorry it took so long to get back, but I didn't have a chance to try and repair it until today. It WAS the water valve. Only the water dispenser side was clogged, so it leaked. I replaced it. For fiture info, I guess if anyone wants to see if it IS their valve that is leaking, you can remove it, lay it on it's side, and place a bit of water in the water inlet opening. Mine was leaking even when not connected. See this photo:

I have a side by side Frigidaire, Gallery Series built in 2005. The water dispenser has a slow leak which results in a puddle on the floor if the water line is not turned off. How do I remove the facing in order to clean or inspect the area? Is the water valve in the door or in the back under the frig?

Probably the one behind it. Get your model number and post it here or at this site to see diagrams and parts. Appliance Parts From PartSelect | Repair Parts For Major Appliances

Default Water dispenser - slow leak

Woodchuck,

The model of my Frigidaire is GLRS64ZEB0 (ends with a zero not the letter O). I went to the link and found the schematics you referenced. Thanks!

I'm still not sure how to open up the ice/water dispenser panel in the door. I don't want to force something for fear I may break something.

I am experiencing a slow leak at the water dispenser. Looking at the diagram, I'm not so sure my problem is behind the panel. I suspect the water valve may be in the top of the refrig. near the water filtration system. Any suggestions?

Most water inlet valves are on the back near the bottom behind the card board cover. Check it here Refrigerator Repair Guide: How to Check the Water Inlet Valve - ACME HOW TO.com

Woodchuck,

I found the water valve and the replacement part. Thanks! It should be a snap to replace. Before I do, are there any other things I should check?

It is usually easy. Turn water off. Maybe flush out the incoming line to prevent any sediment from getting in the new valve.
