Default Water dispenser and ice machine
Brand: Whirlpool

Recently the ice maker on my fridge has stopped making ice. The water dispenser still works but I have to hold down the lever for awhile before the water will begin to flow. I have adjusted the pressure and the water has begun to flow quicker so hopefully that was the fix but still no ice. I checked the plastic tube that leads into the fill tube for the ice machine and there are pockets of air. Any ideas???

Check the fill valve at the back of the fridge.

There are two solenoids one is for the ice maker and the other is for the dispenser.

Check the temperature in the freezer it must be 5 degrees or below for the ice maker to cycle.

Can you please supply your model number?

I was actually mistaken earlier. My refrigerator is a Kenmore Coldspot. The model # is 58247890. When I check the fill valve and the two solenoids, what exactly am I checking for???

You are checking the coils for continuity.

You will need an ohm meter.

Remove the wires for the water valve and take resistance reading on each of the coils.

If both the reading are the same the coils are good.

If you get different readings one coil is bad and you will have to replace the valve assembly.

Here is the valve assembly.
