Water Dispenser Extension Tube Brand: KitchenAid Model Number: KSRB27FHSS02 Age: 5 - 10 years Read several threads about this common issue. I called a few repair shops, and checked local supply houses, after I was unable to locate the part / instructions to handle this myself.
Shortly after purchase, the clear (milk colored) plastic backing plate holding the final dispenser tube to guide water into a glass underneath - broke at the base of the extension tube. Now, some years later, the remaining plastic (backing plate itself) is cracking and disintegrating (into little plastic pieces), and the backing plate itself (holding the screw - fixing the dispenser tube and hose to the dispenser arm) is cracking. Extension tube is long-gone......
Shops told me the backing plate & extension tube not available seperately. Told me the tube & dispenser plastic is a sealed unit at mfg. - and not replacable. Repair involves full door disassembly - and replacing entire water feed tube from rear of frig - through the door - to the dispenser. They said - not an easy fix - time consuming. $$$
I've tried the over-fit of clear tubing from hardware - but the base does not have enough extending tube (borken off) to hold any supplemental tubing.
Is this corret - no repair possible - other than full door disassembly and replacement of entire water feed tube throughout the frig - through the door - to the dispenser ?
Still doesn't sound right. And, based on number of posts - Mfg. surely knows of this problem and defect...... |
