Default Water dispencer not cooling water
Brand: Please select
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a water dispencer unit .
the unit takes normal house water , purifies it and make it cold just like a normal refrigerator.
the unit has a small 1/10 compressor (r134a) and a ventilator to cool the hot coils. the cold coils are going inside the water tank.
actually the compressor is working (i can feel it) for a few seconds and cuts off.
the compressor is getting realy hot and the pipes are warm and the ventilations looks like it cooling it.the ventilation place is clean of dust and dirt.
but the water are not cold.
could it be that Im meesing some 134A gas ?
could it be that the compressor is bad ?
Ofer

Your starter relay or overload can keep it from starting the compressor or a bad compressor. check relay here. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Test the Overload Protector - ACME HOW TO.com

sorry but I wrote seconds instead of minutes...
The compressor is working for a 2-3 minutes and heats up untill you cant touch him so maybe then it shuts off because its to hot ?
Or this is the normal working mode of a compressor ?

That sounds more like the compressor is shot.

Yes I think it will have to be replaced. On a refrigerator/freezer that is very old it's usually better to buy a new one because of the cost of the service call, the new compressor and recharging the unit.

ok , thank you very much and just one more question :

how will a good compressor like this behave if the only problem was a lower amount of 134a in the system ? and how he will behave if he was overloaded with such a gas ?

A compressor low on freon will continue to run. If it can't reach the selected temp it will continue to run. It doesn't overheat because the freon is circulating and what heat it collects is removed.
