Default Warm Fridge Cold Freezer
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KSRB25FKSS14
Age: 1 - 4 years

The freezer temp is -10 and the fridge is 67F. I have the freezer and fridge thermostats set to the middle of the range. I've checked the defrost cycle and it seems to be working. The evaporator coils are mostly frost free and the fan is running. The problem is that the diffussor is closed. I can push the diffusor open with a small screw driver and the fridge will get colder, but after a while the diffussor closes again and will not reopen unless I push it open manually.

I don't have the wiring diagram for your fridge but I think that the thermostat for the fridge section is what is causing your problem.

It is faulty and tells the fridge that it is cold enough and closing the air diffuser.

It may be the electronic control also if the control is hooked through it.

Check your wiring diagram to see.

I would disconnect the connector that goes to the difuser and jam open half way the door.
Will look up your fridge and give further info later.
Looks like the cold control controls the difuser. You have no motherboard.

The fan won't run with the diffussor unplugged, so I removed it and let it hang. The fridge is back to normal temp ~40F.

I replaced the diffussor and it is working now. Whirlpool included a postage paid return label with the replacement part and asked that it be returned for failure analysis. Do you think that Whirpool is seeing a high failure rate with this part?
