The freezer works when ever it wants. When it does it freezes everything very well. But then it will just stop for awhile. Is there a sensor that need changing or am I not even close. Thanks Ron

When it stops does the compressor run or is it silent?

Stops when ever once a day , sometimes every few days. It can be down for hours long enough to defrost everything. It is silent when it happens , then all of a sudden it starts the compressor and all is good again. When working it freezes very good. Thanks for your help

Sounds like you have a defrost problem
Usually defrost comes on for 20 to 30 minutes every 8 hours or so
It does not take that long for defrosting the coils so the defrost thermostat shuts off the power to the heater once the ice on the coils is gone.

Defrost timer is Item 23 in UNIT COMPARTMENT section is at the bottom of the fridge.
Defrost thermostat is Item 35 in UNIT COMPARTMENT section is in the freezer compartment.

It sounds like your timer is stalling causing excessive defrost times, I would replace it.

You may also want to check the thermostat, it should be closed when frozen
(0 ohms) and open at room temperature (infinite ohms)
