The freezer appears to to keep stuff frozen but the fridge doesn't appear to be cooling, it sounds like the compressor is running. any ideas?

The model number can be found on the inside of the fridge section on a tag with the serial number.

If the fridge is not going through the defrost cycle or the is a problem with one of the component in the defrost circuit the air flow the the fridge section can be blocked off with ice.

Check to see if the fan in the freezer is running.
