If the fan is not working the cold air will not be forced to the fridge section.

Also if the fridge is not defrosting the ice will block the cold air from being blown down to the fridge section.

Take the fan cover in the freezer off and look in where the fan is and see if you can see an ice build up.

If there is ice there the fridge is not defrosting.

This could be one of three things:

The defrost heater.

The defrost bi metal.

The defrost heater.

Go to the control panel in the fridge section and locate the defrost timer.

It is next to the temperature control but all you will see is two screws with a little button in between.

With the compressor running turn the button until the compressor shuts off.

The fridge will now be in the defrost cycle and will last about 20 minutes.

The fridge should start back up and should be defrosted.

If the fridge does not start back up turn the button again until it does.

Check in the freezer section and see if it defrosted.

If it is defrosted you will need a new timer.

If it stated back up and is not defrosted then it is the bi metal or the heater.

You will need a meter to check these.

Here is a link to your fridge model FRT18DRHW1.

Here is the deforst timer.
