Default Tightening door handle
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GS2SHEXNS00
Age: 1 - 4 years

We just purchased a home, which came with a Whirlpool fridge, with no manual and one of the handles on the fridge side is loose and could not figure out how I could open up the handle in order to tighten the screw. Very much would appreciate any suggestions or advice or diagram. thanks!

You have to remove the liner on the inner door off to access the screws. Look up your model on the parts list and then type in handle. The other option is to have a technician come out.

Default tightening door handle

thanks for ur advice, josh! that's quite a task to remove the inner liner, but I was wondering if there is any other way of reaching the screws to tighten? didn't want to have additional cost in fixing something I could do myself. any other suggestions? thx

Default This Might Help

Within the last two weeks I posted a VERY similar problem, with an Amana (see "Tightening Side by Side Refrig Handle"). The advice here was not useful (I found the diagrams useless), but I resolved it myself. IF you have the same type of door (side-by-side), the handle attaches through a vertical trim panel. In my case I could see that the trim was in 3 sections: one between the handle attachments, one above, and one below. The two seams are visible. Well, the upper and lower trim sections slide vertically on a rail. Try to tap these sections at the seams to get them to move vertically away from the center section (e.g., tap the upper section upward and the lower section downward). One of mine slid just with the friction of my hand, but the other I had to tap. Moving each about 3/4" will expose the handle screws.
