How do you access the ice door (flap) on a through the door ice dispenser? It sticks open causing the freezer to frost up.

I'm needing help with my freezer door.. When you access ice or water the light dims and then nothing, and sounds like there is a short..do you know what would cause this..Its still making ice, just no connection, I have no clue whats wrong.. HELP, PLEASE......

Cynthia- It sounds like you have a bad dispenser board or a bad motherboard.

Boyd- To get to the ice flap in my Hotpoint, you remove the molding around the dispenser by starting at the top left side using a thin knife. The molding pulls off gently, no screws. After you remove it, take out the dispenser panel (snaps out). Then remove the four screws to take out the dispenser unit. You can then see the ice flap and actuator that opens it. If your actuator needs replacement, you can get to it. It is actually easier than I explained it.
