Default Thin Ice
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: do not know
Age: 1 - 4 years

Machine is making thin ice approx 1/4 inch or smaller and the ice is melting before the bin fills up. Tried cleaning and still same result. Also have un puged the back plug in to get the machine to make bigger ice. Any suggestions?

Can you please supply your model number?

It is found in the fridge on a tag with the serial number.

I don't know if anyone is still interested, but on my machine, the sheet metal support for the light bulb was bent in such a way that the ice sheet could not slide completely down onto the grid. I bent the sheet metal support so that the ice could slide freely and it has worked just fine ever since. We have had this machine since 1998 and it never worked right until I made that little discovery a few months ago.
