Unhappy Thermitor or control board? coils freeze?
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.55609400
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have searched yet my frig appears to check out ok. Classic frozen coils resulting in restriction of cold air to the frig side.

Yet FC and RC theristor pass diagnostics. Fans run, air baffle open, compressor runs.

Bi-metal has contanuity when cold, open when warm. Defrost heater heats when forced via controls.

Does this indicate it has to be my control board? Could it some how still be the bi-metal?

I defrost manually and months later the same thing. It seems to me it all tests good, yet I know it's not defrosting. So bimetal or control board? I believe I have only one control board for temp and defrost....

Thanks for any direction!

Cole

This would most likely be the control board. With the sporadic failure it sound more like the board then the bi metal.

If the bi metal fails it does not work again.

The fridge would frost up with in a couple of weeks.

Here is a link to the parts of your fridge model 106.55609400.
