Default Thermador Fridge leaking from freezer door
Brand: Other
Model Number: KBUDT4865E
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi,

I have a Thermador side by side refrigerator freezer
with ice and water on the door. There seems to be a leak from the left freezer door. It is not constant - but every couple of hours it drips for a few minutes, then it will dry up. The drip comes from the lower door hinge. I'm not sure what to remove on the door to check this.

Thanks,

john

Make sure it's not coming from the floor of the freezer. When the freezer goes into auto defrost the water runs into a drain tube to the drip pan underneath. If the tube which is located at the rear of the freezer at the bottom gets stopped up with dust underneath or ice in the tube caused by slow draining, it will overflow the trough and run out onto the floor.

If you find it is coming from the door it would be the water supply line for the water dispenser . Check the model number you supplied. Could not find it.

Model is KBUDT4865E. I noticed this morning that is was actively dripping, then stopped. This time it was coming from the freezer side of the lower hinge, not the door side as before. I cleaned the drain and tested it by pouring some water in and watching for it to flow out. Also--as the fridge was leaning forward and had not yet been leveled. I leveled it. I'm thinking maybe it was running forward during the defrost cycle due to the lean and the clogged drain. I'm going to watch it now for the next 24 hours and see what happens. Any thoughts? Am I on the right track?

Well it worked for 24 hours--but now it's dripping again. I checked and cleaned the drain hole--also leveled the unit as stated. Still getting a drip near the lower freezer hinge--freezer side, not the doorsde. SOme of it is now running toward the back--I think due to the leveling. What next?

A couple of other thoughts. Turn the water supply to the ice maker and water dispenser off and wait long enough to be sure whether or not it's coming from that water source.

Another less probable cause could be condensation caused from bad gasket seal or frequent door opening.
