Default Solenoid
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: unknown
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a Kenmore with icemaker and water dispenser and the solenoids seem seem to be having a problem pulling. I have metered and found 110v to the solenoids at the icemaker/water dispenser but only 62 volts at the main solenoid on the rear for water coming in. Is this correct? If I put 110v to it direct ,when removed from the refridgerator, it pulls fine. Any ideas? Dean

Can you please supply your model number?

It should be on a tag in the fridge section.

The reading of 62 volts is do to diode in the circuit.

The diode changes the cycle to 30 instead of 60 cycle per second so you will only get have the voltage.

If the valve is sticking you should replace the valve.

Thank You - I will look to change the solenoid if it sticks again. The 62 volts threw me for a loop as the solenoid is labelled 120volt. .... Deaper
