Default Smelled Burned wire freezer not cold
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GD5NHGXKQ01
Age: 5 - 10 years

I walked into my house yesterday and I smelled what appeared to be a burned wire or electrical burn. I checked the house and could not find anything. Late last night I opened the freezer on my fridge and my ice cream was melting.

Everything seems to be working except for the cooling part.

Please help.

Your start relay may have failed. If compressor is not running, but all the fans are running, pull of the cover on the side of compressor and pry off the start relay. If it rattles it's bad, probably source of smoke.

Two white wires that connect in the same plug on the the started looks fried. I order one today, hopefully it will work.
