Default Side by Side GE Not working properly
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFX20JRBKWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My GE is about 6 years old, Problem started about 3 weeks ago.. Just not cooling, so i started here in this forum reading the threads with similar problems.. I have run the defrost test ... with result not defrosting .. but it did kick back on start working... after being manual being defrosted with hairdryer. ... lasted about 5 days then started declineing on both sides freezer and refrig..

I took the back off on the freezer side .. and found the coil hater and bracket assemble.. noticed it was burnt black at both ends so from reading the posts.. i figured that was the problem ... Well i have had the new part in for 2 days now.. still not cooling right... SO PLEASE help me.. I am willing to try anything ...
Maybe the problem is out of me league .. and i may need to call a professional but i figured i would try here first to see if someone could guide me threw on how to fix this problem ..

Problem: Not cooling right on either side
Attempt to fix: New coil heater and bracket assembly installed ( still not working right
Model: GE side by side Model number: TFX20JRBKWW

Any suggestions are greatly appraciated..
thanks..

I have not tested the defrost thermostat, But i have tested the defrost timer.. it is working properly ... So i replaced the coil heater as directed from another post..

Last night we defrosted and stuck the cover back on so far everything is working right so im going to give it 2 days and if it starts cooling back down.. then i will proceed on testing the defrost Thermostate..

Note: When i stuck the new coil heater on my wife left the back cover off for the first day could this have caused it not to work properly ... ? Im thanking that had something to do with it ..
Everything seems fine this morning but only time will tell..
thanks for the fast responce and please over the next two days check back on my post ... if it does start cooling down i will test the defrost thermostate...
thanks again for the fast responce guys..

The cover is important as it acts as a deflector to move the air properly.

well u already checked the defrost timer and you said it worked. and you replaced the defrost heater and it still don't work. you might have to replace the defrost thermostat located on the evaporator coil. the thermostat looks like a round disc and it is about 1 inch in dia.( approx). it has 2 wires coming out of it. you should check the amperage of the defrost heater when it is defrosting to see if there is power going to it. good luck...
