Unhappy Side by side freezer/refr not cold
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: WRS20PRB
Age: 5 - 10 years

The refrigerator is not cold and freezer not working properly.. Took off back and fan is working. Do not want to just buy new one. Please help. We inherited fridge when we purchased home and always had problem with water leaking from under freezer side. It there a reset button.

Check in the freezer behind the panel and see if you have ice built up on the coils.

If you do there is a problem with the defrost cycle.

Locate the defrost timer in the left front corner of the fridge under the freezer door behind the kick plate.

With the compressor running turn the little knob on the timer until the compressor shuts off.

Watch and see if the ice melts.

If it does you will need a new timer.

If it does not you will have to check the heater and bi metal thermostat with a meter.

While you have the panel in the freezer off check the drain hole in the drain trough it is likely plugged and this is why you have water coming on the floor from the freezer.

Run a piece of flexible wire down through the drain.
