Default Series Number Differences for Maytag Frig
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MSD2957AEW
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Maytag frig model MSD2957AEW series 11. Many of the parts listed on the web say series 10, but I cannot find series 11 except for the ice bin. Is that because series 10 and 11 are the same except for the ice bin?

Also, the problem I have is that I think the circuit board behind the water dispenser burned out. My wife said, the ice/water dispense area started making a horrible noise one night and there was the smell of electrical burning. Now the water and Ice dispenser does not work (but it still makes ice) and the defrost does not work for the frig compartment. I suspect I need to replace the circuit board and dispenser switch. Will I need to replace anything else? Does anyone have any experience with this? Is my diagnosis correct and how hard is it to replace?

I am overseas with the military right now and will be home for just a few days to fix it so I want to order all the correct parts in advance to have them waiting on me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Yes the the only difference in series 10 and 11 is the ice bin.

In order to determine what parts you will need it is best to check it out first as electrical part can not be returned.

If the defrost cycle is not working than this is a separate problem.

It could be your defrost heater.

It could be your defrost bi metal.

It could be the active defrost control.

Again these part are all electrical with no returns.

Here is a quick link back to your fridge model MSD2957AEW.
