Question Ruth
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 9552881
Age: More than 10 years

The water won't shut off to the ice maker. It will when we put the arm up but not when it fills. does it have an overflow control in it and if so how do I fix it? Then if I have to take out the ice maker how do I do it? We can't figure out what if holding it in.

Just a girl thing I guess.

The timer in the ice maker itself could be bad or the water inlet valve behind the unit could be stuck open.
The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip or run.

The water valve in the back could not be your problem, because no matter what you do the water would not cut off if the valve is bad. Replace the ice maker Motor module, and you will be in High cotton. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
