Hi, I made the mistake of not flipping the swithch on last summer for the humidity control for the outside of the refrigator, and it has awful (rust?) spots on the doors, etc. Is there any way to fix that? I feel so stupid!!!

If they are just a number of relatively small spots try some automotive rubbing compound on them. Get the white, I think this is less abrasive that the orange stuff. It should not mess up the finish but I would try a bit in a non obvious place just to be sure.
