Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: RT188KXKQ02
Age: 1 - 4 years

HI. The water in the drip pan doesnt evaporate. had to put another bowl under it to catch the overflow. Would it be the evaporator or the defrost dont see a fan anywhere around the pan. Can you please help. Also its a Roper Refigerator.

Are you talking about the pan under the fridge? The condenser fan assist in the evaporation. It should be running when the compressor is running.

Or are you talking about the water collector in the freezer. It has a drain hole and tube which leads to the pan underneath. If it's partially stopped up it will freeze in the freezer and overflow.

Hi thx for replying. Its the bottom pan but it sits on top of the compressor. I dont see a fan around it though. So you think its the compressor that is suppose to evaporate the water. Also it does have a lot of water in it at all times.

Could not find any info on this unit but I have one at the lake with the same compressor/evaporator tray set up. The heat from the compressor is supposed to evaporate the water. Never had a problem with it.

Does the food in the freezer get a coating of frost on it?
Could be your door to freezer gasket is leaking letting in too much moist air
Get a peice of paper and and try to insert it between the two

Also if you have an ice maker you could have a slow leak

Not sure if you have this or to be honest what it does but mine has a seperate switch in the fridge section which says ENERGY SAVE. We always have this turned OFF. If on energy save the frame between the freezer and fridge sections has water on it all the time. I think it turns a mullion heater on/off
