Default Replacing light switch
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 596.73503201
Age: 1 - 4 years

The right side light switch is faulty...light will not automatically come on but it will if I wiggle the switch. The left switch is fine. I ordered the part (PS154861) but I cannot figure out how to remove the plastic panel to access the faulty switch and replace it. I removed the two screws that fasten the door latch (just in front of the two switches) and also removed the plastic panel covering the lights but could not see now the larger plastic panel was attached to the top of the cabinet. I am afraid if I apply too much force to the plastic panel, I will break it. Can you help me figure out how to access the switch? Thanks.

I don't have a picture to provide to you but the panel is held in by clips.

You may be able to replace the switch without removing the panel if you use a putty knife to release the tabs on the light switch.

Thanks; unfortunately no luck with the putty knife. Will attempt to take apart the control assembly the weekend.
