Default Replacing freezer door lower harn wire
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KSFS25FJ
Age: 5 - 10 years

All the wires broke from normal use after 3 years on the bottom of the freezer door. They have been butt spliced together but I ordered a new wire harness. How do I take the door apart to give access to the wires? There are no visable screws.

You can not take the door a part on this fridge it is what they call foamed in place.

You can take the dispenser apart.

There are two slots in the trim at the bottom.

Use a screwdriver and pry out the bottom then slide the trim up.

Tie a string to the wires before you remove them.

Make sure that the string is long enough to go all the way through the door and some left so you can pull the new harness back through.

Here is a link to your fridge model KSFS25FJ.

Thanks Sheila, you're a wiz. I ran into an appliance repairman yesterday on a job who told me the same thing, except he said I would have to get a new door. Very "green" of Whirlpool, Kitchenaid or whatever. The info about the trim on the exterior was very helpful. I saw the slots but when previously I had tried to pry it the trim began to crack and I had a do-it-yourselfer panic and stopped. I'll try it again and if necessary order new trim. I swear as God as my witness, I'll NEVER buy a Kitchenaid refrigerator again.
