Angry Replacement Ice Maker Doesn't Fit with old Ice Bin?
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFH22PR/WR30X10093
Age: 5 - 10 years

I inherited this fridge with the house. It's a GE Profile side-by-side. The ice maker didn't seem to work properly - couldn't eject ice. It acted like it would bog down.

Ice maker model: WR30X0327

Well, turns out, this is not made anymore - so the replacement was a WR30X10061. Evidently, this is not made anymore either - so the replacement to the replacement is a WR30X10093. I bought one of these from a local appliance parts store.

I removed the old maker and installed this one - however, I discovered that my ice bin does not fit under the new "replacement" ice maker. Am I supposed to have replaced the bin too? I have a dispenser on the front, so I can't exactly just put a bucket in there.

Please help. I was excited about getting this ice maker going, but now my hopes are dashed. I may be pouring, spilling, freezing, twisting and cracking when this is all over, but I would REALLY like to have the freezer do all that work for me.

Not too high on GE right now...

Thanks.

The best thing to do is to call GE.

I have not run in to this but I am sure that they have.

Here is a number for General Electric
US 1-800-626-2005 Canada 1-877-959-8688

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm one step ahead of you (GMTA).

GE claims that my original part number is available (ie, ice maker), even though no one else in town can get it, and many websites show that it's superceded by the next part number. Guess they don't know either. I talked to the support folks and the parts folks (2x actually). They were nice, but not very helpful in the grand scheme.
