Default Replace Refrigerator Door
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MTB1956DE
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have purchased a refrigerator door gasket. In an earlier thread in this forum in response to how to install the door gasket, a suggestion was made to remove the door and install the gasket. Is removing the door difficult? What does one do to remove the door properly? Thanks in advance.

The door is not hard to remove.

You will have to remove the freezer door to get the other door off.

There are two or three screws that have to be removed.

Before for you remove the screw take a pencil and trace the hinge.

This will help when you put the doors back on.

The center hinge will have to be remove also.

Trace this hinge to before you remove it.

Lay the door on a flat surface so the handle is hanging over the edge.

Sock the new gasket in warm water to make it pliable.

When your install the new gasket do not over tighten the screws.

This will warp the door.

You will need the last letter of your model to get the right color gasket.
