That bulb inside the fridge has gone out for some time now. Is it okay to replace them with regular bulbs? Like the one we use in the house. Or is it a special bulb that can withstand cold only.
I don't think it is ever recommended to replace an appliance bulb with a regular light bulb. Most house bulbs are 40, 60 and 100 watts. A fridge bulb is usually only 15, 20 or 25 watts.
As long as you use the recommend wattage you will be fine. There are no special cold weather bulbs. Think of it this way. Does your house have an outside light. Now do you change it out in the winter? Im pretty sure it gets colder out in the winter than in your fridge.
Hey, thanks for the replies. I did notice that the fridge bulb is smaller in dimension, including the base, than a regular light bulb. So I just have to find myself a bulb that fits into the fridge socket. I think they come in lower wattages too.
If you have the manual for the bulb Im sure it will have a replacement part listed in there, or you could just take it to a hardware store and match it up.
