I have the same issue. The Amana model number I have is SMD22TBW. Any advice you can provide on how to disconnect ice maker without being able to see or get behind the unit is appreciated.

Remove the mounting screws on the top and bottom.

Disconnect the wiring harness.

Here is a link to your fridge model SMD22TBW.

Here is a side view of the ice make showing the mounting screws.
