Wink Refrigerator works intermittently
Brand: Magic Chef
Age: 1 - 4 years

My refrigerator is just 2 years old but started to give up working. Inside light is on but does not get cold either in freezer or refrigerator sections. When I disconnect it for a couple of hours and plug it in, it comes on and works for a few days and again stops working. It is a spare refrigerator and is only 10 Cubic feet in size and I don't want to spend big bucks on it for repair. What could be wrong with it? I called magic chef and explained to them about the fridge. They think it could be compressor, thermostat, etc, etc and asked me to call in their repair person. Since it is fairly new, they promised to pay for parts but labor charge is on me. What do you think is wrong with this fridge?

thanks,

Mugman

Check to see if there is ice buildup on the evaporator coils located in the freezer. On a side by side it's behind the panel in the back. If so it's a defrost problem. post your model number for more specific info.
