Unhappy Refrigerator water Leak
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MTF2455ERW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello,

My maytag refrigerator is leaking water from inside the fresh food.
There is a little box in the upper back side of the fresh food
compartment that is full of water and every time we close the
door the water comes out of the box.

What do I have to do?.....

Default

That is the drain for the freezer's defrost
It runs out the back of the fridge and down the back to the evaprator tray at the bottom of the unit.

At the bottom
Remove the kick plate and check that the tube is not blocked with dust/crud
Also check any low areas of tubing. They will hold water and stuff will grow.
Might as well give everything a cleaning while you are down there

On some units you can slide the tubing off the fitting at the back of the fridge
Sometimes blowing into the tube will clear it or a turkey baster with water in it to push the plug out.

Once clear. Remove and clean the funnel at the back of the fridge. Also a good idea to run a 10% water/bleach solution through the tubing. Will kill the crud growing in the tubing, keeping it clean longer.

The good news is you know your defrost system is working correctly.
