I've been Googling for this question, and only finidng non-tech answers. How does a residential refirgerator/freezer work? Specifically, with one compressor, what method is used to get separate freezer and refirgerator temps? Perhaps 2 cap tube/evaporator systems? What refrigerant temps do we run? (I know P?T charts so I can translate the temps to the pressures for the refirgerant in use.) I did find a reference in this forum of a "tech sheet" with pressure/ambient temps for a Kitchenaid but have not found a link to it.

Now keep in mind, I am an experienced professional tech for commercial kitchen equipment, working on "hot" and "cold" side equipment, such as ovens, microwaves, warewashing, fryers, and 450+ brand names. I know evaporator temps of commercial coolers, freezers, ice machines, I know how to compensate measurements for ambient temps. And as any good tech knows, I rule out everything BEFORE hooking up guages, as the very act of doing so can alter the charge in a 6 ounce system. I am quite good at what I do, I just have not worked on residential refrigerators.

Thanks for any response, or if you prefer to answer in a PM or email, I can provide mine.

I ,not being a tech don't have a tech answer but in residential refrigerator/freezers the fridge temp is controlled by opening or closing a vent between the refrigerator and freezer. The knob in the fridge labeled fresh food control does this. The evaporator fan blows the cold air into the fridge section.
