Red face Refrigerator not getting cold
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FRT8S6EMB
Age: 1 - 4 years

I recently bought a used refrigerator. Everything was working fine then one day I noticed that the refrigerator was not that cold. When I looked in the freezer I seen that the back panel was frozen over. I cut it all off and when the ice melted I plugged it back in and everything started working great again. That was a month ago. Now all of a sudden the fridge is not working again and the freezer is frozen up again. I broke up all the ice like last time but the fridge will not get cold this time! There is not any air coming out of the vent leading from the freezer into the fridge at all. Does anyone have and suggestions on what i can do? Thanks

The air blows through that vent because of the evaporator fan in the freezer above the evaporator coils that were icing up. Make sure it's running.(hold door switch down and it won't run in defrost mode either.) If the fan is running make sure the vent is not stopped up with ice etc. When you are breaking up ice in a freezer make sure you don't poke any holes in the evaporator tubing.

Your defrost system is also not working. Check your defrost timer, defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com
