Default Refrigerator not cooling, freezer working fine
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MFD2560HES
Age: Please select

The refrigerator is not cooling, freezer is working fine, All electric works fine, Fan on bottom of refrigerator is running and compressor seems to be working fine ( I feel vibration). The damper in the refrigerator is open, yet no air is blowing trough it. There is no ice on the coil and and no frost inside the freezer. I have unplugged and waited and replugged, also reset temp controls in inner compartment, to no avail......I looked and many of the previous postings and have not found a solution so I decided to post. I am stummped, please help. The unit is about 4 years old

If the fan is running in the freezer, and there is no frost build up on the back wall of the freezer, then you have to have a baffle control problem. I have a feeling that you are overlooking 1 of the 2 issues. If you do not have a frost build up and the fan is running, then it is the baffle control. The part # is 67003903. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

There is no frost on the back wall of the freezer. I am not sure where the fan is in the freezer, how can I tell if this fan is running. I looked up the part you gave me and am still a little confusded where the part is located on fridge

Well, when you open the door of the freezer, provided the rest of the refrigerator is on, you should hear the fan running. If not that is the problem. If you hear the fan running, then you need the baffle control, I told you about. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Easy fix. Take the ice maker out, and remove the back wall of the freezer. Order the motor first, and do it once. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Tom,

Thanks for your help. I looked up the part on Partselect.com. I beleive it to be PS1152704 Evap Fan, Can you confirm this for me. It looks like it is an easy fix. One last question, are these parts universal because on the web site it show diffent refrigewrator brands along with the diagram.

Tom,

Just wanted to say thanks again. I went and bought the part at a local store for $32. I did what you suggested and spent an hour on the repair, You probably saved me $300. When I bought the part the young lady knew exactly what I needed, there seems to be a problem with the factory installed part failing. My refrigerator is cooling now. Once again thanks for your help, I really appreciated it.

Jim
