Default Refrigerator not cold enough
Brand: Amana
Model Number: scd25tw
Age: More than 10 years

I have been having trouble with my side/side refrigerator/freezer. Its not cold enough. I have done several things to it already. We replaced the seal gaskets on both doors, air condenser was bad. When we replaced the gaskets, the refrigerator/freezer was off for 2-3 hours. With the refrigerator unpluged for that time, would it have enough time to defrost? The settings is set on 7 almost the coldest setting. It still won't freeze ice cream, comes out soft smushie. I have tried to clean coils, its hard to see to clean, what I can't see. Everything seems to run okay. do you have any ideas?....Help!!!!!

Is everything else in the freezer frozen.

Ice cream or bread does not freeze well in older frost free refrigerators.

Everything from steaks to hot dogs , freeze. But frozen juices, no to the liquids. Bread is not, ice cream has to go in deep freezer in garage. Ice freeze after a time, but it tastes bad. We replaced what we new that needed to be repaired but now we have no clue what to check....

Did you mean air condensation in fridge.
Are all the fans running, condenser and evaporator?? Pull off the back panel in the freezer and observe the frost pattern. Are all the coils frozen,or just some of them.

The condensation was found on the back of the refrigerator wall panal. My husband replaced the condenser fan, it was not running for days. It works fine now. We took off the inside panel for the settings. Turned the knob till it clicked, it went off. We then shut the doors. Unplugged the refrigerator/freezer there was no power shurge to the refrigerator. The inside of the refrigerator/ freezer did not glow red. Our refrigerator is at least 10 years old. I'll look at the freezer coils and report what we see.

I took everything out of the freezer, and on the inside of the walls without taking the back inside panal off. There is ice build up on the ceiling, walls. Its like frozen condensation. We are taking the back panel off now...

Default freezer

There is some frost on the inside of the coils in side the freezer. Where is the evaporator? How can I tell if it is running?

We took off the inside panel inside the back of freezer. There is frost inside, all over that I can tell. Is that okay or is something amiss?

Default not defrosting

We pulled the control panel box out of the refridgerator. When we tried to click into the defrost mode, we did this with it running. It will not do anything. There is no clicking on or off. So we unpluged it for over one hour, then we pluged it back in. Now we're going to see if it will cool again. The was frost build up on the coils inside the freezer. Overly frost, no but it was on most of coils. Now we will wait and see if it will do anything once we plug it back in.
