Default Refrigerator Ice Chute/dispenser front part
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.56542400
Age: 1 - 4 years

I'm having a problem on my Kenmore model 106.56542400 side-by-side - in the ice dispenser on the outside/front. The black flat is loose and the spring has actually fallen out. I can see the metal rod inside and it too is loose. Nothing seems to be broken but I don't know how to get the ice chute/guide off so I can try to reseat the spring and rod. The chute/guide is 'a part' of the part that you press the glass against to dispense the ice. I'm pretty sure if I can get the guide/chute off I can get up inside there and reseat the spring (which is completely out) and the rod (which is still inside but loose). Any suggestions? Thanks!!

To get in to the dispenser look along the bottom edge of the trim on the dispenser housing and you will see two slots.

Use a flat blade screwdriver and pry out.

When the bottom release push the trim up and then it should come off.

Here is a link to the parts of your fridge model 106.56542400.

Thanks, Sheila! I'll give that a try and see if I can put it all back together, again. Appreciate your help.
