Default Refrigerator High temp warning
Brand: Amana
Model Number: 27
Age: More than 10 years

I have an Amana 27 side-by-side refrigerator/freezer (electronic version)
It has started displaying High Temp warning, and the fridge has started spoiling milk.

Any ideas what is wrong? Is it repairable?

Your model number would help.
I would start with the defrost system. Is there ice build up behind the back panel on the inside of the freezer.
Adaptive defrost control board
defrost heater
defrost thermostat.

The model # confirms that you have the adaptive defrost control instead of timer. So if there is ice build up behind the back panel on the inside of the freezer. Check the defrost heater and thermostat here.

If they're ok you'll need the control board.

If it's not iced up, check fan in the freezer. It should be running blowing cold air into the fridge through a vent from freezer to fridge.

Woodchuck,
Thanks. You are right. There is ice build up behind the back panel on th einside of the freezer. Also defrost heater and thermostat are fine. How do I go about replacing the control board (part #140864 PC board hv)? I sit located under the fridge? Please help.

Maytag Appliance SZDE27MW Parts List

On this diagram it's part 36 and appears to be under the fridge near the front. There is a picture of the part on the parts list. which may help you locate it. There may be a technical sheet under the fridge which may help.
