Default Refrigerator is freezing my food
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS25LGMFWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My GE side by side refrigerator is freezing my food on the refrigerator side. If food is in the middle to back sections of the glass shelving or in the vegetable crisper drawer, it will freeze solid or semi-solid. It started this when the refrigerator temp was on 5 (middle range). We kept running the temp down and it is now on 1 and still freezes. We have had the temperature control panel (at the top where you select the digital number for freezer and refrigerator) replaced about 5 months ago. Worked fine for about 4-6 weeks and then started freezing again. We are now down to a 1, and can't go down any farther without turning the refrigerator off, and it is still freezing. The freezer side is set normal (on 5) and it is working fine. Occasionally, the water will freeze up in the line and won't dispense, but with opening and closing the door under normal use it will correct itself.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Your problem could be the thermistor or the main board.

Is the air damper closing?

Here is a link to your fridge model GSS25LGMFWW.

When do I check the damper to see if it closes? This is the part in top of the fridge coming from the freezer correct? How would I check the thermister there are 2?

As the temperature in the fridge goes down the damper should close so that no more cold air from the freezer can move into the fridge.

So if your fridge is to cold the door should be closed now.

You will need a meter to check the thermistors.

The resistance of the thermistors goes up as the temperature goes down.

If the fridge is 32 degrees Fahrenheit the ohms reading would be 16.3 Kilo-ohms.

The damper is not closed. Is this a thermistor issue or main board?
