Unhappy Refrigerator/Freezer not cooling
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS25JFMAWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a GE side by side refrigerator and cannot figure out what the problem is. It started with both sides being too warm. First thought it was the defrost thermostat, replaced it. Then I discovered the evaporator fan was not working in the freezer above the coils, and replaced that. Still not working, even after the thermistor was below 30 degrees. I have cleaned all dust from around the compressor and fan. The compressor seems to be running normally. My next step from researching online was the defrost timer, but I could not find in any schematic, manual or otherwise that this refrigerator has one. The coils are frosting up more than they should which is why I'm looking at the timer. After detaching the sensor that clips to the coil tube in the freezer, the heater came on about 30-45 minutes later. Still no fan though, but it's probably not cold enough yet. Any Ideas? Thanks.

You probably have a bad motherboard in the back. Bad evaporator motors destroy motherboards.

You will probably need service on this unit unless you are good with a meter.
