Default Refrigerator door not sealing
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: csx22d
Age: 5 - 10 years

The fresh food door is not sealing correctly on my side by side refrigerator. I have replaced the door gasket which helped, but did not fix the problem. I replaced the cam on the bottom hinge, but the door is still not sealing at the bottom.

Is there a cam on the door that corresponds to the hinge cam? Do I need to replace some of the shims? Not sure what I need to do next to fix the problem. I am currently placing a scrunched up paper shim under the bottom of the door to get it to seal better. Thank You.

Is the thimble that the hinge goes in to worn?

Here is a link to your fridge model csx22d.

What is this 'THIMBLE' ??? In clicking on the link, there is no picture and it says the part is no longer available. I have checked the Hotpoint site and don't find anything with 'thimble' in it. I have attached a door diagram - parts I am working with are #12 - #17.

So far, I have replaced the door gasket, the door cam on the hinge side and on the door at the bottom of the Fresh Food Door. The seal is better, but it is still not sealing at the bottom of the FF Door.

The thimble is a nylon bushing that the hinge goes into on the door.

There should be four of them two in the freezer door and two in the fridge door.

One on the top and one on the bottom.
