Default Refrigerator Door Gasket Repair
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: TP21A3L
Age: More than 10 years

I just bought a replacement gasket and with unbelieveable pain and blood got it installed. An INSIDE corner tore in the process. This tear is not exposed to the outside air.

Tell me I don't need yet another gasket!

DOes it impair the performance of the gasket? If I need to repair it, is there a way to do it? Rubber cement, etc.?

Still recovering

Why so many problems. I've replaced thousands of gaskets both Domestic and Commercial in 40 years.
Guess you did not read to place in tempered water to make flexable.
Try crazy glue, but you may need a new gasket.

Thank you so much for the reply, Icehouse.

No, I read the directions, but proceeded without hot water because it was a 90 degree day, and I figured the rubber would be soft enough. I take it the gasket is useless? the compressor seems to run more than I would like, but I really don't know how to judge these things.
