I recently replaced the door gasket on the refrigerator side (screw on type). When I removed the gasket from the box, I noticed that it had several kinks and creases. I figured that after installing it, it would eventually relax into the proper shape to seal the door. Well, it hasn't yet (24hrs). Will it ever seal properly, or is the gasket defective? Is there something I can do to help re-shape the gasket?

You will have to take it off again but soaking in in hot water might help get the kinks out.
